Week Five: Detail Your Day, Define Your Dreams

Wow--I'm fired up! I'm reading a new business book called SWITCH and it is all about change. It's premise includes this--if you have a path to follow, you are more likely to change sooner and more efficiently than if you do not have a path or plan!

In the CYL Daily Journal, you are asked to journal on 4 pages a day. Why? Because if you follow a pattern every 24 hours hours, you build consistency and honesty into everyday!

Let's get fired up together on this week's Wednesday call. (And if you need to "weigh in on Wednesday", do it!)

Be encouraged,

Becky

  2. Very rich call today. In Bible study this morning they asked if we knew what we were going to do to stay close to God this summer. Well, I have enough material from this group to more than handle that!
I was particularly impressed by the idea to set goals for my dreams. I have been severely frustrated lately, because my dreams have really taken second place to running our businesses and trying to stay in business in this economy.
I feel my dreams have been put aside, and yet I have so many.
I'm going to try to set weekly goals. Little things that I can do to feel like I still have them in my life.
I'm also struggling with prayer, having committed to a ministry I love to pray for a new path they are taking. I want so much to be a prayerful member of their team, and I fail so often at the task.
That is going to be my other weekly goal.
And truly, I am a very list making, detailed person but for some reason (probably spiritual opposition) I keep putting off finalizing my plans in my journal. I need to do that, and am going to try.
Thanks for allowing me to figure this out in writing and for the wonderful call Becky!

  3. Hey all, I don't work for any of these companies, but wanted to mention I just got a year of Prevention magazine (which both Becky and my doctor have referenced) for all of $5.00 on Amazon. One full year.
Thought you might like to know, but it is a Mother's Day special so you might want to hurry.
I know they have great exercises and articles and put out the Flat Belly Diet so......Pretty good deal.

  5. This was a call in that I could repeat a few times, such gems in Becky's message. What is my purpose for this day? Where do I need to go? What is min? Goals with a deadline, this was crucial for me. My to do list is miles long and it never seems to get shorter. I like the idea of an appointment. I am currently working on a suggestion from Becky to set a alarm on my computer to post my daily expenditures. I am excited to have tools to make my dreams a reality. Way to go Becky. Happy Mother's Day to all of you, even those of you who are dog or cat mothers.

  6. This is my second year doing these sessions with Becky and I am so appreciative to the entire group with Becky's leadership! I know I am several weeks late in posting my inventory but am determined to have it up on this blog so I feel accountable to you all as well. It has been laying in my drawer for weeks! Will try to make it short!
    1. First of all I am very discouraged with my weight, I need to lose at least 15 lbs and have been working on it for the last 2 yrs. I am re-joining ww on May 18. I have the Flat Belly Diet book that Becky rec last yr and did the first 4 days and just stopped!
2.My little change would be WAG and Plan my day before I go to bed. In all areas! That is such a struggle for me.
    3. Not sure about amends, praying for answer there.
    4. My dream of 12 yrs has faded in the past few months so not sure any more.
    5. My greatest gift is encouraging and sense of humor.
    6. I keep saying I'm not cleaning my closet or buying new clothes until I lose my weight. Then I want to shop out of my closet!
    7. As far as sleep, that is a real prob for me that I do need prayers for. Two yrs ago in July, I was sleepwalking and fell down 16 stairs. Thankfully, my husband woke up and found me. I was airlifted to hosp where they found numerous broken ribs, punctured liver, lung, etc. Spent 1 wk in hosp then moved to re-hab for 2 wks. I teach and wasn't able to return til end of Oct. So Doc has me on sleep med to put me into deep sleep. I have been exhausted and many days come in and nap on couch after school. Usually get 7 hrs of sleep a night.
    8. I am committed to spending 20 min each day, first thing in morning with God.
    9. Think my addiction is to food and sleep!
10, My husband is my accountability partner.
Because I am still in class at 3:00, I don't get to hear live calls but last week's recorded call was so inspirational.
I will try to be much better at staying on task for each assignment. Thanks for listening to me and I am very open to suggestions and help!

  7. Ok, I did something wrong and I'm having to write my posting again.
I realized after the call, that I am letting the day take me in many directions, instead of planning my day and accomplishing what I would like to accomplish. I am now taking the 8-to-dos and reviewing that list before going forward. I need to make this a natural habit so that at the end of the week, month, life (because time passes so quickly), I can say or God can say, Well done! Thank you Becky and all the postees. I learn from your posted comments. Bev... NM

  8. Robin,
I was glad to read your honest, insightful inventory. Sounds like you have been through the ringer with your fall and your starting your climb upwards. I am encouraged to read other people's comments and brainstorm how we can all be more of what God wants us to be. You said that encouragement is your gift Proverbs 14:33 May 9th reading, Wisdom is enshrined in an understanding heart;wisdom is not found among fools. This said to me that God gifted us with understanding and will give us wisdom to accomplish what he has set before us. For you it is 15lbs for me it is organization. I think of you all and pray for you when your name comes to me. So praying for you Robin that you will be encouraged and gain insight how you can achieve your goals. This group gives me tools to start today. I don't feel so discouraged as I have in the past. In the past I would break down and cry over being disorganized and nobody could sympathize with me. Now I ask God to bring people in my life to help and give me tools to move forward. I am beginning to see results. Keep the comments coming I love reading both your successes and struggles and I do pray for you all when I read your posts. God is good. His faithfulness endures forever. Yeah!

  9. Robbie,
Thanks so much for replying to my long overdue assignment. I do need to mark and re-read Proverbs 14:33. I also struggle daily with lack of organization. Just today I forgot my workout clothes and had to drive back across town to get them. I reminded myself that if I had gotten my stuff together the night before that would not have happened. This group does help me and the support is huge. I try to ask folks like my husband, friends, sister, other teachers that seem organized on a particular area how they set up there system. Then I simply copy what they do and try to maintain it. Over the years it has really helped since I wasn't born with that organized gene! I do find if I will make myself stop and think the process through that helps as well. I will also be praying for you and each of the group members.

I missed the call where Becky gave an email address that we could send our inventory list to. If anyone still has that would you mind sharing it with me so I can send mine in? My email address is estescmcrop@comcast.net Becky probably wouldn't want us to post hers on the blog so if you will email it to me I would be so grateful!
